Global Warming: It's not just a fact. It's a choice.
Recently, when I was driving on the 405 (stuck in the usual 11am LA traffic), I heard a radio ad of parents and grandparents apologizing to future generations for not stopping global warming. As the ad says, "Global warming isn't just a fact. It's a choice."
At the end of the spot I expected to hear a shout out for the Sierra Club, NRDC, CLCV--one of California's great environmental organizations that have working to champion pro-environment laws and more importantly change the overall culture of thinking about climate change.
Imagine my surprise when instead I was told that the ad was produced by Flex Your Power--a quasi-government agency funded in large part by taxpayer (utility consumers) money. It feels just like yesterday that the debate was IF global warming existed, not what we need to do to stop it.
The ad is in a TV spot version as well.
In conjunction with the ad, people can pledge to leave a better "legacy" for their children.
Let's just say that yesterday while looking at my paycheck and paying my SMUD bill, I felt proud that I was a taxpayer.

Thanks Crystal. I purchased a huge supply of CFLs several months ago from my local grocery. CFLs are being offered to folks at a discount. I've also been giving them away to help bring awarness and action on this issue. It's time for a cool change.
Check out this documentary.
